Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Due to time differences, I may not be able to attend the entire schedule. Am I still eligible to apply?
For the Presentation Track, you are eligible. Each participant will be assigned a session based on their local time zone, and you are only expected to attend your designated session.
For the Research Performance Track and the Capstone Track, we recommend attending the full schedule to ensure the best experience and outcomes.
Is it possible to apply for multiple tracks?
Yes, it is basically possible to apply for more than one track. However, please note that each track has different features and eligibility criteria. You should also carefully consider the schedule for each track to avoid conflicts.
For example, it is possible to join both the Presentation Track where your assigned session may be scheduled in the afternoon on Day 2, and the Capstone Track.
What is the registration fee for team entries?
Only the Presentation Trackaccepts team entries, as papers can be co-authored by 2 to 5 students.
If all co-authors wish to participate in the conference, each team member must register individually.
The registration fee is $390 per person.
For example, a team of 5 would pay a total of $1,950.
[Presentation Track] I have two works—one research proposal based on my individual work and one full paper co-authored with a group of three. Can I apply for both individual and team presentations in the Presentation Track?
Yes, you can apply for both.
If you present both an individual and a team paper, you will need to register for each entry separately:
- - $650 for your individual participation
- - $390 as a team member for the group paper
You may be assigned to two different presentation sessions, depending on scheduling.
[Presentation Track] I am one of the co-authors of a paper, but the other co-authors do not wish to participate. Can I still attend the conference and present the paper on my own?
Yes, that is possible as long as you have mutual consent from your co-authors, you may attend the conference and present the paper on behalf of the group.
[Presentation Track] My research involves data collected from human subjects, such as surveys or interviews, medical records, etc. I do not have formal IRB approval. Can I still submit my paper?
Yes, you may submit your paper. However, if your research involves human subjects (e.g., surveys, interviews, experiments), a simplified ethical review may be conducted by the organizing committee, if necessary.
This simplified review will consider factors such as:
▶ Whether personally identifiable information was collected
▶ Whether sensitive topics were involved
▶ Whether participants gave informed and voluntary consent
▶ Whether data was collected and stored anonymously
I cannot decide whether to join the Research Performance Track or the Capstone Track in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Inquiry. What should I consider?
If you prefer a discipline-specific (STEM or Social Sciences), fast-paced research challenge featuring a 1-hour ivy league professor lecture followed by mentoring and real-time research tasks, the Research Performance Track may be the right fit for you.
If you're more drawn to interdisciplinary thinking and in-depth qualitative analysis, the Capstone Track with a 4-hour session led by an Ivy League professor and additional mentoring from a PhD might be the better choice.
What is the conference’s AI usage policy?
Participants are allowed to use AI tools such as ChatGPT for limited purposes such as brainstorming, searching for information or existing data, or grammar correction.
However, all AI usage must be clearly disclosed, including how and where it was used in the submitted work.
Submissions that contain undisclosed AI-generated content may be subject to disqualification or penalties in accordance with the conference’s academic integrity standards.
What is the next step after submitting the online application form?
[Presentation Track] Your paper or proposal will undergo a turnitin similarity check. (Similarity rate below 15% excluding references is generally considered acceptable.) If approved, you will receive a link to pay the registration fee via Paypal. This process may take 2 to 5 days.
[Research Performance Track] or [Capstone Track in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Inquiry] You will receive a link to pay the registration fee via Paypal after the basic application review has been reviewed. This process typically takes 2 to 3 days.
Now I have completed the payment. What should I do next?
You will receive a confirmation email shortly, along with details on the next steps. The Participant Guide for your track will be sent at least two weeks prior to the start of the conference.
