The 'Global Youth Academic Research Enrichment Program (GYAREP),' now entering its 8th year in 2026, offers highly motivated high school students with strong academic performance a valuable opportunity to engage in self-directed research. Participants spend approximately three months during the main program period from mid-May to August interacting with leading scholars from Ivy League universities, learning proper research methodologies, and experiencing the joy of creative academic inquiry. This is a rare opportunity not easily accessible to most students, and it serves as a unique experience that significantly elevates each participant’s academic and personal value.
What is different?
| Exceptional Instructors | By inviting tenured faculty from the world's leading universities, including Cornell, Harvard, MIT, and UPenn, we offer participants the opportunity to benefit from their expertise, research experience, and scholarly mindset, thereby enhancing their research skills and fostering academic growth. |
| Youth research activities - Proper verification of authenticity and growth | With the emergence of generative AI such as ChatGPT, it has become increasingly difficult to evaluate a student’s genuine capabilities and the authenticity of their research based solely on writing-based projects. This challenge has been consistently pointed out by both U.S. college admissions officers and the professors who participate in our programs. In this environment, our program offers a meaningful alternative. Throughout the program, professors and mentors closely observe every step of the research process, from topic selection to final paper writing. This ensures that students conduct independent research driven by their own effort and passion. Through professor recommendation letters, journal publication opportunities, and documented research engagement, our program effectively demonstrates the authenticity of high school research and enables accurate assessment of students’ research competencies. In particular, our program guides students to use AI not as a substitute for their work but as a supportive research tool. By fostering “AI-assisted research” rather than “AI-dependent research,” we provide a structured system that allows professors to assess each student’s genuine research abilities while promoting responsible and effective AI use. |
| Enhancing the scalability and reliability of research outcomes | This program offers various opportunities for the dissemination of research outcomes. Participants can broaden the scope of their research by participating in additional competitions or submitting their work to academic journals, thereby demonstrating their genuine research abilities and passion. Additionally, our program provides opportunities for long-term research collaboration with professors. By continuing to work with professors over three to five years or more, participants can accumulate research data, further enhancing the depth and reliability of their researches. Through this process, participants can achieve steady academic growth and establish a solid foundation to showcase their achievements. |
| A program that has earned trust | Over the past six years, the headquarters has faithfully and efficiently executed its commitments, ensuring the program operates steadily and reliably. These efforts have provided participants with a differentiated research experience and have driven the continuous growth of the program. |

Emphasis on Research Ethics
- The professors and TAs emphasize to participants the importance of generating and collecting accurate data, and analyzing research results objectively based on facts. They provide guidance to strictly avoid unauthorized use or plagiarism of others' research results.
- Papers completed through this program will be checked for plagiarism (content similarity) using the Turnitin program, which is used by prestigious educational institutions worldwide, including Ivy League universities.
- In the case of utilizing AI such as ChatGPT, the allowable scope will be determined according to the program policy based on the opinions of the professors and TAs.
