IYS connects teenagers with various internship opportunities, allowing them to gain hands-on experience and learn from professors at Ivy League universities.
2025-26 Winter Internship Programs start from the 3nd weekend of December.

Duration:
  • High Level: 6 weeks
  • Basic Level: 3 weeks
Professor: Professor of Political Science
Project Topic:
  • HL: Political event that impacts fossil fuel flow
  • BL: Basic comparative research
What to learn: Participants will experience research methods that are actually used in environmental research institutes and universities
Sessions:
  • HL: 3 meetings with professor / 5 hours of mentoring
  • BL: 2 meetings with Professor

Duration:
  • Long term: 7 weeks
  • Short term: 3 weeks
Professor: Professor of Bio and Environmental Engineering
Project Topic:
  • LT: Monitoring fine dust particles in various environments
  • ST: Factor-based air quality analysis
What to learn:
  • LT: Data generation and analysis through experiment
  • ST: Literature review, secondary data collection, and analysis
Sessions:
  • LT: 5 meetings with professor
  • ST: 3 meeting with professor

Computational Statistics
Duration: 7 weeks
Professor: Associate Professor of Radiology, College of Medicine
Project Topic:
  • Choose from topics prepared by the professor, including Nonlinear Inverse Problems or Monte Carlo Modeling of Multiple Scattering of Light for optimizing images in disease diagnosis and treatment.
What to learn:
  • Generating and analyzing original data using Matlab and Python
  • Coding skills are not mandatory, but basic programming may be required depending on your choice of topic.
Sessions:
  • Meetings with professor / 5 hours of mentoring

Project Topic:
  • Motion tracking of objects in video using a machine learning program
What to learn:
  • Object tracking and behavior analysis using machine learning-based software actively used in the field of neurobiology
